Things We Should Know About Animal Sleeping Pattern:

Animal Sleeping Pattern:

We all know that human beings have abundant knowledge of the external world. How far away is the moon? Why is there day and night? But we don’t know why we sleep, how we sleep.

Humans know the importance of teeth only when they start having toothache. If you don’t sleep for a day, you get irritable. Then we understand the importance of sleep.

By good observation, standage man learned that other animals also sleep.

  • Domestic animals such as horses, dogs, cats came under human observation.
  • A horse sleep upright. Bend one leg at the knee and alternately bend each leg and sleep.
  • Cows and bulls lie down in the cowshed and sleep.
  • The fish sleeps lying on its back near the shore, with its eyes wide open.
  • The cat lies down and takes a nap.
  • Camels are different. 4/5 of the camels in the herd stand and the rest lie down. Then those standing sleep and others stand. It does not happen that the entire group stands or lies down at the same time.
  • Tigers and lions sleep in the thick forest in the afternoon and hunt at night.
  • The owl sleeps during the day and goes out to hunt at night.
  • An ant is very hardworking. But even an ant needs sleep. Sleep is as essential as food. Sleep is very precious.

But humans are different & strange than these creatures. Primitive man was vulnerable. He used to sleep awake due to fear of ferocious animals. Later humans started living in communities. Bow and arrow, sword came to hand. His sleep was protected. A long time ago, man learned the art of keeping fire alive. It was learned that fierce animals are afraid of fire. Human safety was enhanced by constant fire burning. Sleep improved, consistently.

We give blessings as ‘Stay Happy’, rather, ‘Sleep full’ would be more appropriate.
